9 reviews for 36″ Sunnydaze Fire Pit Steel Northland Grill with Spark Screen and Vinyl Cover

  1. Wanted to buy a fire pit for the longest, but did not want to invest the $$. So my wife finds this on Handy Guy and I bought it. I don’t regret it. However, I will give you this advice as I will buy another one when this one gives out and apply what I have learned. First, the metal is thin. So it’s not heavy and you should take care of how much you burn in it. Also, it rust. Easily. So I did what others advised here: spray paint coat the exterior before using it. What I will do next time is spray paint all parts prior to assembly. This will protect the metal in between joints. It comes with a cover and poker. Hope this review helps.

  2. I put it together tonight and haven’t used it yet but the metal is very nice.

  3. It’s pretty good! Love the size, but putting it together I can tell it’s kind of cheap. It was really hard to tighten the bolts so the base would not wobble. I decided to paint mine with two coats of black grill high heat rust free paint before I used it because I knew Iwas buying a cheaper pit and wanted to prevent rust. I was pleasantly surprised by the cover, it is pretty thick and will do a good job of protecting.

  4. Took about fifteen minutes to put together. If you’re looking for a firepit that is large and will keep you and some friends warm while also social distancing this is for you. Compared to the smaller average round firepit, we were able to load it full of wood, close the top and stand or sit several feet away, this would keep 8 adults warm easily without being crowded. I noticed a lot of the “pretty” firepits have reviews where the top started to peel off even though it looked like real tile/wood, how disappointing for the price. This thing is sturdy, all steel so nothing fake that’s going to look bad later. It’s exactly what we wanted since you can cook on it also, grill works great. Cover is thick and fits nicely. Have used this once and we love it, will update if anything changes, i never leave reviews unless something sucks, lol, this does not suck.

  5. We love this little fire pit!! My husband put it together without reading the directions, he did add washers to where the base attaches, but those he had laying around so there was no special trip made to the store. We’ve never had a “portable” fire pit like this before, always just a ground pit. Our new house doesn’t really have a good spot for one, so we thought this would work best for us where it can be moved anywhere in the yard. So far we are very happy with our purchase, used it the the afternoon we got it!! We wish it came in a larger size for those bigger logs, but this is the biggest one you can purchase in this style for the price. We hope it last a while, I would definitely recommend this to family and friends. This would make a great gift as well!!

  6. Love this firepit. Was easy to assemble, and a good size. Have used it almost every day since I received it and cooked multiple times. Very happy with this purchase.

  7. Compared to family that have a tiny round expensive fire pit.. This is the BEST deal you will find. I knew the paint was not the best so prior to using it I sprayed two cans of 2,500 degree flat black paint on it.. To help with rust issues later on. The grill is awesome but keep it in a dry area since rust could be a issue. It’s so much larger than my daughters round pit (it may have better metal and paint) so save a rust problem by re painting it prior to use!

  8. I bought this and it arrived 2 days early!! I would give it a 5 star but I feel if I have to improve the product it can’t be 5 star. First, buy 2 cans of Rustoleum fire treated paint its $15 and what a huge difference to the look of the fire pit.  Another “upgrade” The cooking grates are for a Weber grill 19.5″ x 12(ish)” They fit perfectly and they cost $15 for 2 of them. I called the company and they were extremely helpful and very quick with answers to the size of the grate. The grate it comes with is fine I just wanted more cooking space. Also I am using their grate to help keep the wood off the bottom of the pit. So well worth the extra $15!! The pit has a rail that wraps around the lower section this comes together easily and very simple to install. I did notice that once the paint wore alittle on the fittings for this rail, the pit became less sturdy and the rail sections were not holding together all the way and it was also not attractive. To fix this I drilled a hole in 1 of the fitted sections and installed a small bolt through both pieces, a counter pin would even work, but it seemed to do the trick and is a lot sturdier now. I did this when the pit was assembled and it was kind of a pain since its a round rail and not flat, hard to start the hole. So, I would install that bolt before assembling the pit where you can clamp down the pieces and or use a punch to start your hole and of course file and paint the completed fitting. Overall for the money the product is good. I just wanted to share few easy things to make it better and still be extremely affordable.

  9. I have been burning up to 2 fires A-day for about 30 days straight. I stack the wood really high as I needed to burn this wood quickly. I just recently found a small hole in the top of the screen, this thing has withstood some pretty hot fires! I did not re coat it in any other high tolerance paint or anything for fear of the fumes as I have little ones. Needless to say, It is not esthetically appeasing anymore, but still very functional. It is kind of flimsy, but easy to carry if ashes need dumped. The screws holding it together have come loose, pretty easy to retighten. Would recommend.
